Day at the VSO

At the VSO, which is the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, I listened to the orchestra (which consisted of trumpets, trombones, french horns, violins, cellos, a piano, flutes, and more) play the songs composed by Beethoven, while two actors, one the nephew, the other the uncle, acted out messages that they sent to each other. The lighting helped determine the mood of what was going on. The nephew was complaining about Beethoven staying in their house on the upper floor, because he would make a lot of noise, and was described as a madman by the nephew, when Beethoven would do all sorts of stuff that was not really normal. But the uncle would explain to his nephew that Beethoven did these things because of an unhappy childhood, that he was deaf, and many other things. And slowly as the acting progresses, the nephew starts to understand why Beethoven is the way he is. Some bizarre things Beethoven does is removing the legs of his four pianos, so he can feel the vibrations of the strings, and putting a pencil in his mouth and put the tip on the piano, to also feel the vibrations. At the end, the nephew gets to go to the concert of the 9th Symphony by Beethoven, where we hear Ode to Joy.
